Too bad it's not a V6

I saw one of those once . It is just such a hopelessly geeky oddball that I can’t help but love them. Realistically there is absolutely no reason to buy one over a sedan but yet I just really want one over a sedan .

I unintentionally
keep a mental tally in my head. It’s up to two.

actually, that’s a good thing. Toyota makes the best cars, but a Toyota transverse V6 is impossible to work on even for a transverse V6.
The 5S-FE is an easy to work on 4-cylinder with no problems :o)
Yeah timing belts are stupid, but at least it’s a non-interference engine
We need more non-turbo 4-cylinder cars with leather and sunroof (and heated seats too)

The 3rd gen Camry is the best car ever made. Back when the Camry coupe was just a 2-door version of the Camry sedan, no stupid Solara shit where they tried to change the shape too much
, fuck that.

I’ve seen about five as many Elantra coupes, and that’s saying something.
Also at one (1) total lifetime spot is the 1955 GM Futurliner and the 2011 Saab 94-X (I actually have a picture of that one if you don’t believe me). They’re seriously rare .

I keep seeing first gen Solaras around town. All red for some reason. I think they are very nice looking coupes. But I like the 2 door camrys as well.

It's very '90s in all the right ways. I like it.

Didn’t they have to tilt the v-6 way back, so you have to take off the intake plenum or some such to get to the rear spark plugs? Still, wouldn’t mind a mid 90’s Camry though.

Knock em down to 3K or so and buy it, future special interest car.

I am definitely bored and want to buy something, but is this that something? History says no.

Oooooooooooooh my heart is racing. 2 tone, snowflakes, spoiler, I’d bet better of it was V6

The only way to get “it all” is the SE coupe: leather, power windows everything, V6, 6-spokes, and rear spoiler. The 2-tone is cool, but I think virtually all LEs ordered had the 4-banger . The XLE had their fair share of V6s, and the CE was the base. As I recall, 2-tone was only available on the LE, coupe or sedan.

Yes, they tilted the V6 backwards. Yes, you have to pull the intake to change the spark plugs. But even if it wasn’
t tilted, you’d still have to pull the intake, with very few exceptions. The tilt just makes everything even worse than it already would be.
One of the few exceptions is the 4th gen Maxima, which has cutouts in the intake to access the spark plugs.
I used to have an ES300

That’s one of the reasons I like my wife’s ‘02 Explorer. The longitudinal V6 makes some repairs/maintenance much easier. The next gen Explorer is much harder to work on.

at least the new Explorer went back to longitudinal RWD though :o)

The two tone paint does look great on any 90s Toyota/Lexus, but it can also easily be added. I’d take a v6 without it rather than a 4 banger with with it.

Yeah, it’s not a Tercel with terminal fuel delivery issues or a pickup with structural rot, not nearly as fun. Or maybe the sound pickup you have is the keeper, fix it up?
It’d be cheap though, and one to hold - really uncommon colors and spec.

I’m pretty sure all first gen Solaras are red

Those wheels do it for me.

Yeah. If only I had a spare $35k laying around for a new one. Hmmmm. Don’t seem to have that on me at the moment.

A V6 or stick would have been nice. Seems I can only find the stick on a DX coupe. And yadda yadda no stick on the V6 for 92-96.

The leather and wheels would do it for me, not to mention the condition. This is the W124 coupe of Toyotas.

Of course you’re the expert on these

It just dawned on me that these almost look like overgrown AE101/AE110 Corolla Coupes at least from side
